Refresh Your Mornings

Welcome the morning with a cup of tea, and the rest of the day will welcome you.

Greetings, dear reader. I know I’ve been gone long, but I’m back with some brilliant plans for this blog and my tea life! As I mentioned in my last post, I was busy with examinations, and one thing that really carried me through those days was tea. Although I am an avid tea drinker, I wanted to get into the habit of having green tea every morning. Not only is it very beneficial for health, it is quite refreshing too!

Now I do have quite a variety of green tea, and I like to switch things around every morning. One of my favourites is the Earl Grey Green Tea from Twinings of London. It is a very smooth and lightly flavoured tea and since regular Earl Grey is one of my favourites too, I really enjoy this tea. Every time I have exams, my entire sleep cycle is reversed and I end up staying up all night to study, and then going to give my exam and coming back and sleeping during the day. As you must know, if you don’t want to fall flat on your face while writing your paper, you need some caffeine to keep you awake after staying up all night. Though most people, and even I, would reach for coffee at such a time, I decided instead to turn to tea. It’s healthier, has less caffeine, and for me personally is more refreshing. So I had some almost every morning before leaving home. In fact, I liked it so much that I ended up continuing the habit even after exams.

However, it was the Earl Grey Green Tea that really made me make up my mind to drink loads of green tea. One night, I steeped it in a few cups of water in my pretty teapot that used to belong to my grandma but is now mine (because I asked nicely), and had a little solo tea party. I liked it so much that I began to drink some green tea every morning.

What was so great about this tea? It was smooth, mellow, and earl grey flavoured. I mean, who doesn’t like earl grey? Being green tea, it of course had vegetal head notes with a slightly floral body, which was actually a little surprising. I couldn’t quite place the tail notes, it just tasted very earl grey – ish to me. I was searching for the link to the tea on the Twinings website, and on there, it said they added bergamot flavour to it, which is the oil added to tea make it earl grey tea, and I had an “Aha!” moment. The tail notes were bergamot.

The colour of the tea was a nice orange, which you can see in the ancient white teacup that I got from my other grandma. And the aroma was pretty strong for a mild tea like this one, but it was very pleasing. I urge you to try this amazing tea, and get into the habit of having some green tea to begin your mornings. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of sitting by an open window in the morning with a light breeze on your face and some warm tea in your hand. It refreshes your senses and gets you ready for the day. Give it a go, dear reader, and discover the joys for yourself.

All the love, T.
